Description

I'll be making a full species sheet for Aeries later, but for now I'll give a brief description. Also, the notes she is singing are actually the first notes in a song. Take a guess at the song! I'll list it at the bottom of this description.

Aeries are a small species closely related to Fairies. Their size is similar to that of fairies, but they are otherwise quite different.

The aeries population is predominantly female, the females outnumbering the males by an estimated 5:1 ratio. Aeries got their name because they are primarily known for wind magic. Male aeries have wings much like fairies, but females do not.

Female aeries are usually much more skilled with magic than the males, and also are well known for their song-magic. They can use their voices to influence how people feel, most often preferring to create a pleasant feeling in others or helping people to sleep. However, they also have a scream rather similar to a banshee- it can inflict a great deal of pain, and some aeries are even able to kill with their scream. It is very rare for an aerie to use their abilities in such a way; most of them are afraid of their kind starting to be associated with the unpleasant legends surrounding Sirens and Banshees. Comparing them to those species is considered a strong insult.

Aeries are often proud that they are both peaceful and helpful, although their tendency to refuse to cause harm to others has lead to the death of some individuals.

The words that accompany the notes the female aerie is singing are "Laying here with you..."
The song is Sara Evans' I Could Not Ask for More

Man I was thinking
"Let me be your wings
Let me be your only love
Let me take you far beyond the stars..."
