Species of Terra-Syor: Syorians

Syorians:

Behavior:
Syorians are often friendly and curious, far nicer than the Syors. Although they do like the taste of humans, it is uncommon for them to kill or even intentionally harm other beings. They will almost always taste any small being they catch. They are gentle by nature, but also playful at times. Many will keep ‘pets’, as they prefer company to being alone. They are loyal and protective of friends, and are known to let pets go as long as there is promise of visits. Should such a promise be broken, the Syorian will track down the pet again, and there will be no second chance for release. If no reason is offered, and especially if recapture is fought, it is one circumstance in which a Syorian might view a being as genuine prey. The primary circumstance in which they will view an intelligent being as prey is if they are attacked.

Identifying characteristics:
Syorians have one set of upper and lower fangs, the upper are sharp while the lower are relatively dull. They do not have the claw-like nails that the Syors have, and are not as focused on having fine things, often wearing more ordinary, plain clothing.

Magic and Abilities:
Each Syorian typically has some form of elemental magic, and they are also skilled healers. Most Syorians are also able to use size altering magic on plant and non-living organic material (e.g. fabric, lumber, meat).

What to do if you encounter one:
Syorians are unlikely to kill you, as long as you are careful. Do not attempt to injure them with weapons; you do not want them to view you as an attacker. If you are frightened, speak up to make sure they are aware of it; if they are aware someone is frightened, they will not taste them as long. However, do not lie about this, as they will know and will not be as gentle with someone attempting to trick them. If you don’t mind tolerating it for an extended period of time, it is also a good idea to speak up; Syorians make for loyal, protective friends, and have even been known to give gifts to people who are more cooperative with them.

If you are in danger, you can often find sanctuary with a Syorian. They like to have company, like to make new friends. If you seek safety with one, they will have a small price, but will be even gentler with someone who has openly agreed to being tasted.

Syorians can be playful at times, wanting to enjoy chase games and teasing their catch. They will not do this with individuals who are significantly fearful, so long as they are made aware of this. Most often the beings they want to keep as pets are those that do well as ‘playmates’ for their harmless mock-hunts; people who can handle the chase games without becoming panicked or too fearful. At times they may be inclined to keep someone who shows intense fear, in order to show them they won’t need to be afraid of any Syorians in the future. In both cases, these temporary pets are usually offered the choice of freedom or permanent residence after a while; it almost never takes longer than a few months for this to occur. By the time the Syorian offers to release them, many are willing to stay with the Syorian, or at the very least visit frequently. This is primarily because of the kind nature of the giant, and that it will obviously leave them depressed to be alone.

If you are taken as a pet by a Syorian, they will typically try to see to your comfort most of the time, aside from their insistence on tasting you. Make sure to let them know if you have family that will worry about you; they will typically be willing to inform them that you are safe and pick up a few personal belongings for your comfort.
All my species are Open! Just ask, and tell me about the character!
I just want to make sure the character actually suits the species. And don't forget to give me credit!

So my stories/future novels take place in a specific world, which I call Terra-Syor. I am going to be posting some species descriptions, and I'd love opinions and suggestions on how they turned out. I will eventually be putting them into my 'Vintage Book' image.

Syors and Syorians

Also Called: Giants

General Summary:
Syors and Syorians are the native giant species of Terra-Syor. Often, it can be extremely difficult to tell the difference between the two species, as they are nearly identical.

Common Aspects:
Syors and Syorans are humanoid in appearance; they range in size from approximately 90 to 120 feet tall, with hair and eye color often being similar to those of humans, with occasional variations in individuals possessing strong magic. Ears are pointed, and move not unli

Syors:

Also Called: Various insults

Behavior:
Syors are the more dangerous of the two species, the majority of them having little regard for the lives of non-giant beings. They will occasionally keep a human or other being as a pet, but if the ‘pet’ is not careful, they could easily end up dead. If a pet survives long enough, the Syor could become fond enough of them that minor mistakes will no longer mean injury or certain death. It is very rare for a Syor to let a being they catch go, and the

Syor Hybrids:

Also Called: Syors

Behavior:
Syor-Syorian hybrids are far from as dangerous as the Syors, but also are not as friendly or as gentle as the Syorians. Fortunately, they are typically not inclined to kill. They do have a quick temper at times, and it is that temper that usually leads to them killing intelligent beings. They are especially quick to anger when people lie or try to trick them to get what they want.

Identifying characteristics:
Syor hybrids are nearly identical to Syors. They have the d

Aww. I like both.... But these guys seem more snuggly (though it would be an interesting twist to find Syor who's extremely fond of a human).
